David Sinclair – what we need to know to improve our longevity

There can hardly be a more emblematic example of what it means to be Switched ON than to follow the best scientific advice about how to live longer.

In this recent interview with Lewis Howes, world renowned longevity expert Dr David Sinclair tells us about some of the latest research.

As always with Dr Sinclair, the biggest takeaway from this interview is that we have some say in how fast we age. If we engage in the naughty behaviour that all of us know about – cigarettes, alcohol, no exercise, excessive stress – we’re going to take years off our potential lifespan.

What’s so refreshing and wonderful about listening to David is that longevity also works in our favour if we adopt the right behaviours. As evidence, for David himself that means his biological clock is a about a decade younger than the date it says on his birth certificate.

Even better, the study of longevity never standstill and the new epigenome test he talks about sounds like a gamechanger for the wider public who want to be part of longevity revolution. “Eat this, swallow that …”

As David says, knowing we are responsible for up to 80% of our lifespan through our behaviours truly liberating. It also places the magnifying glass on the mind game that Lewis asks David about what longevity actions his future self would thank his current self for doing.

David’s list of behaviours and actions sound like a really good place for all of us to emulate – weight training, no sugar, pescatarian diet and reduced stress.

In his final message, David says that ageing is not uni-directional, “In my lab, we’re driving it forwards and backwards at will.”

As I said, Sign Me Up to Be Switched ON and Live Longer.
