Keeping Up with Switched ON Kim Kardashian

It’s important that Switched ON Living ventures far and wide for our inspiration, and this week our quest takes us to Hollywood, or more correctly to Beverley Hills.

Fresh from her success at the People’s Choice Awards 2021, Kim Kardashian received a second early Christmas present this week. On her fourth attempt, Kim passed the California ‘baby bar’ exam.

Apparently, California is one of four US states to accept applicants to sit its bar entrance exam after a designated ‘apprenticeship’ working in a law office, as opposed to the traditional route of studying at law school.

The official name of the exam that Kim passed is the First Year Law Students’ Examination, and it’s hard – only 20% of students passed the same exam earlier in the year.

A joyous – and maybe surprised! – Kim immediately took to Instagram (as you do when you’re a Kardashian) and announced her success with a long post that ended with a sentence that exactly echoed the Switched ON Living ethos of hanging onto our dreams no matter how hard it gets.

Sure, Kim had lots of help along the way that would be unavailable to the ‘unfamous’ and ‘unwealthy’, but in the end, it was she, and she alone, who sat through the seven-hour exam, and any condemnation seems churlish.

For the Switched ON community, the point for us is Kim’s persistence. She’s shown a true grit that surely many casual observers wouldn’t have credited her as possessing.

Clearly, it’s very personal for Kim as she tries to emulate her famous father, and it’s certainly worth our while reflecting on the extraordinary efforts people will go to once they’ve identified their passion.

Some goals take years to achieve, and it seems Kim is committed to a long-slog where passing the ‘baby-bar exam’ is simply her first baby steps on the long road to become a California lawyer.

There aren’t many dumb billionaires, and Kim Kardashian isn’t one either. What she is is focused and passionate and they are two of the essential ingredients any of us need to fight boring, passive traditional retirement and claim our spot among the Switched ON.
